I fell asleep about four times. I don’t know if Ryan Reynolds gets rescued from his coffin in the Iraqi desert. I don’t know if his cellphone battery ran out. I also don’t know if I was snoring.

I was probably snoring. I mean, I do that.

Maybe it was the fact that most of the movie takes place in a dark box, leaving me with nothing to look at on the screen for long stretches. Maybe Ryan Reynolds is not particularly compelling. Maybe it’s that movie theater seats are like my second home and I’m inordinately comfortable in them. Whatever the reason that I got bored enough to nap through “Buried,” I can’t recommend the film. Because deep, refreshing REM sleep is not what’s supposed to happen when you watch a “taut thriller.”
