I, 258, will not be on Millionaire anytime soon

The postcard came today. It’s barely a postcard – more of a quarter sheet of card stock with a photocopied MIllionaire logo and the following text:

“Thank you for your interest in being a contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.” You have not been selected to be a potential contestant. We appreciate your continued interest in the show and thank you for taking the time to audition with us.”

There’s also some finer print about how they reserve the right to limit the amount of times a person may attempt to qualify for the show.

I don’t see much here to help me turn this into a learning experience – no suggestions about what would increase my chances next time, no indication of what they didn’t like about my application or my scores.

It’s too bad – I bet I’d do well on that show, and it was really my best chance to make sweaty, inane small talk with Meredith Viera. Frustrating, but I’ll use this misfire for the greater good. This won’t be my last attempt to be overcompensated for my codependent relationship with American pop culture.
